Over 8,000 TTP terrorists present in KP, set up checkpoints: officials

According to recent reports from government officials, over 8,000 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists, also referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” are currently active in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). These militants have established checkpoints on key roads, including the CPEC Road, DI Khan-Bannu Road, and in Tank, exacerbating security challenges in the region.

🔍 Key Details:

  1. Infiltration and Presence:

    • The terrorists crossed into Pakistan from Afghanistan via lesser-known routes along the porous border.

    • They are present in multiple districts, including Peshawar, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Swat, Shangla, and the merged districts.

    • Approximately 800 terrorists are concentrated in Bajaur and Khyber districts alone.

  2. Security Impact:

    • KP has witnessed over 600 terrorism incidents in the first eight months of 2025, resulting in 138 civilian deaths and 352 injuries.

    • Security forces face difficulties in retaliating due to militants blending into the general population and launching attacks.

  3. Government Response:

    • Security forces have conducted 190 operations in August alone, killing 39 terrorists and arresting 110.

    • Day-night patrols have been initiated on the CPEC Road in cooperation with the Motorway Police.

💎 Conclusion:

The situation underscores the persistent threat posed by TTP militants in KP, facilitated by cross-border infiltration and complex terrain.
