Lily Collins’ father-in-law reveals why he isn’t fan of her show ‘Emily in Paris’

In a refreshingly candid interview, Malcolm McDowell, the iconic actor and father-in-law of Lily Collins, offered his honest take on her Netflix series Emily in Paris.

  • “To be honest with you, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that,” McDowell shared, making it clear that the romantic-comedy doesn’t quite resonate with his tastes.

  • Still, his admiration for Collins herself couldn’t be stronger. “But I’m the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law,” he said, commending her acting and on-screen presence.

  • He couldn’t help but praise her charisma: “When she’s on the screen, there’s nobody else on it… she has a beautiful quality. I suppose it’s a sort of charisma.”

  • McDowell also speculated on the cultural impact of the show, suggesting that Lily’s portrayal has inspired viewers in the U.S. to dream of visiting Paris. “I’m sure [tourism] has gone up so much… ‘Yeah, let’s go to Paris,’” he remarked.
