Pakistan seeking deferment of Qatari LNG cargoes to extend $5.6bn liability timeline

Islamabad — Facing a steep surplus of liquefied natural gas (LNG), Pakistan is requesting that Qatar defer delivery of 177 LNG cargoes over the next five years. This move aims to push the associated $5.6 billion financial burden beyond 2031–2032, when the existing take-or-pay contracts expire
