Karachi — An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has granted a physical remand until August 28 for Farhan Ghani, Chanesar Town Chairman and brother of Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, in connection with an assault case involving a government employee.The News International
What Happened:
The incident occurred on August 22, when Farhan Ghani and a group of men intercepted a government employee, Hafiz Sohail, who was supervising fiber-optic cable installation on Shahrah-e-Faisal.
According to the FIR, the group assaulted, intimidated, and wrongfully confined him — charges include attempted murder, criminal intimidation, and violating the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Legal Proceedings:
Farhan Ghani and associates surrendered themselves following the FIR and were initially handed a one-day transit remand to appear before the ATC.
In court, Ghani denied the allegations, claiming he merely questioned the activity due to a lack of proper authorization and did not resort to violence.
Prosecutors are calling for an extended remand to conduct further investigations and gather evidence.
