The Pakistan Army has been deployed in flood-hit areas of Punjab as authorities brace for a dangerous surge in water levels following India’s release of massive water flows into the Ravi and Sutlej rivers.
🔹 The Situation
The Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) has warned of exceptionally high flood levels at Sutlej and Ravi barrages.
Nearly 150,000 people have already been evacuated from vulnerable districts including Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, and Vehari.
Kartarpur, Kasur, and adjoining areas are already submerged, with floodwaters spreading into agricultural lands.
🔹 Army Deployment
Pakistan Army troops have been called in to assist civil administration in rescue and relief operations.
Helicopters, boats, and engineering units are being used to evacuate stranded families and transport food and medicine.
Medical camps are being set up in coordination with provincial authorities.
