Punjab, Islamabad brace for more rains

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast another spell of heavy monsoon showers for Punjab and Islamabad over the coming days.

  • Islamabad Capital Territory

  • Punjab’s major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Multan.

  • Southern Punjab districts may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

  • Urban Flooding: Risk in low-lying areas of Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad.

  • Riverine Flooding: With rivers already swollen, more rains may worsen flood levels in Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej.

  • Landslides: Possible in Murree, Galiyat, and hilly areas of northern Punjab.

  • NDMA and PDMA have alerted local administrations to remain on high alert.

  • Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from riverbanks, and secure weak infrastructure.

  • Rescue teams and relief camps are being prepared in advance.
