Authorities on alert as Punjab rivers face severe flooding amid Indian water release

The Punjab government has placed authorities on high alert as water levels in major rivers continue to rise following India’s release of water into the Ravi and Sutlej.

🔹 Current Situation

  • Nearly 150,000 people have already been evacuated from flood-prone areas.

  • Ravi, Sutlej, and associated canals are flowing at dangerously high levels, submerging low-lying villages and farmlands.

  • Kartarpur, Kasur, Narowal, and Okara are among the worst-affected districts.

🔹 Government Response

  • Rescue 1122, Pakistan Army, and district administrations are conducting evacuation and relief operations.

  • Relief camps have been established
