CM Maryam Nawaz orders immediate upgrades for rescue boats

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to immediately modernize and upgrade rescue boats being used in flood-hit districts to ensure safer and faster evacuation operations.

  • Rescue 1122 and district administrations instructed to inspect all boats for safety, engine strength, and capacity.

  • Older boats to be repaired, refitted, or replaced with modern motorboats.

  • Additional life jackets, ropes, and medical kits to be stocked on every rescue boat.

📍 Focus Areas

  • Flood-hit districts including Kasur, Okara, Bahawalnagar, Sialkot, and Narowal will be prioritized.

  • Relief teams ordered to increase nighttime operations with proper lighting equipment.

  • The CM directed close collaboration between Rescue 1122, Army units, and PDMA for swift evacuation.

  • A central monitoring cell has been set up in Lahore for real-time supervision.

With river levels in Ravi and Sutlej still dangerously high, officials warn that rescue capacity must be boosted to handle further evacuations if upstream water releases continue.
