Four journalists among 15 killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza hospital

Israeli airstrikes on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza, killed 15 people on Monday, including four journalists. The attack, described by local officials as a “double-tap” strike, hit first and then again shortly after, targeting those who rushed to help.

Journalists Killed

  • Hussam al-Masri – Reuters cameraman (contractor)

  • Mariam Abu Dagga – Freelance photojournalist for AP

  • Mohammed Salama – Al Jazeera photographer

  • Moaz Abu Taha – Local journalist

A Reuters photographer, Hatem Khaled, was also wounded.

Reactions

  • The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned the strike as part of “an open war on the press.”

  • This brings the number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 to more than 240.

  • The Israeli military confirmed striking in the hospital area but said it does not target journalists, and an investigation has been ordered
