Govt holds back resignations of Sunni Ittehad Council members from NA committees

Islamabad: The federal government has decided not to immediately accept the resignations of Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) members from various National Assembly committees, sources confirmed on Tuesday.

🔹 The move comes amid heightened political tensions, with SIC lawmakers earlier submitting resignations as a mark of protest.
🔹 Officials stated that the decision was made to maintain the functionality of parliamentary committees, which play a vital role in legislative business and oversight.
🔹 The government is expected to hold further consultations with the SIC leadership before taking a final decision.

Parliamentary circles say the step reflects the government’s effort to avoid legislative deadlock and keep dialogue channels open with opposition parties.
