India releases more water into Chenab, Sutlej rivers

Pakistani authorities have confirmed that India has released additional water flows into the Chenab and Sutlej rivers, intensifying flood risks in downstream areas of Punjab.

  • Chenab River: High flood warning issued at Marala, Khanki, and Qadirabad headworks.

  • Sutlej River: Already in high flood, with more inflows expected in the next 24–48 hours.

  • Districts at risk include Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and Lodhran.

  • Several low-lying villages have already been partially submerged.
