The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood alert after India released a large volume of water into the Sutlej River.
According to the PDMA, the inflow is expected to raise water levels significantly in downstream areas, posing a risk of flooding in low-lying districts. Authorities have advised residents near the riverbanks to remain vigilant and prepare for possible evacuations.
Rescue teams and relief agencies have been placed on standby as the situation develops. The PDMA said it is closely monitoring water flows and coordinating with district administrations to mitigate potential damage.
