KP police to install ‘Pink Button’ system to curb harassment incidents

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police has announced the launch of a new ‘Pink Button’ emergency alert system aimed at combating harassment and ensuring women’s safety in public spaces.

🔹 How It Works

  • Special ‘Pink Button’ devices will be installed in public transport, universities, shopping malls, and other crowded areas.

  • In case of harassment or threats, women can press the button to immediately alert the nearest police control room.

  • The system will trigger rapid police response, dispatching officers to the location.

🔹 Additional Measures

  • Dedicated women police squads will monitor high-risk areas.

  • Awareness campaigns will be launched to educate the public about the system.

  • The initiative is part of KP Police’s broader plan to establish a safe environment for women in educational, workplace, and travel settings.
