Pakistan observed the 60th Defence & Martyrs’ Day with solemnity and national pride, paying tribute to the armed forces and civilians who sacrificed their lives in defence of the motherland.

đŸȘ– Ceremonies & Tributes

  • Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza and the three services chiefs (Army, Navy, Air Force) laid floral wreaths at the Martyrs’ Monument in Islamabad.

  • Special prayers were offered for the security, prosperity, and solidarity of Pakistan.

  • Families of martyrs were honoured in ceremonies held at GHQ, Corps Headquarters, naval and air bases.

đŸŽ–ïž National Observance

  • Events were held nationwide, including in schools, universities, and government offices.

  • Documentaries, songs, and exhibitions highlighted the courage and resilience of Pakistan’s martyrs and ghazis.

  • Defence Day also reflected on the September 1965 War, reaffirming the resolve to defend Pakistan against all threats.

đŸ—Łïž Leaders’ Messages

  • President Asif Ali Zardari and PM Shehbaz Sharif paid homage to the sacrifices of soldiers and citizens, vowing to strengthen Pakistan’s defence.

  • They stressed national unity as the key to overcoming security and economic challenges.
