PHC bars NA speaker, Senate chairman from appointing leaders of opposition

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has restrained the National Assembly speaker and Senate chairman from appointing leaders of the opposition in their respective houses until further orders.

The court issued the directive while hearing petitions challenging the process of appointing opposition leaders, with petitioners arguing that the selections should reflect the genuine majority of opposition members rather than political manoeuvring.

Notices have been issued to the federal government, NA speaker, and Senate chairman to submit their responses at the next hearing.
