PM Shehbaz orders national-level coordination to tackle flood crisis

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure strong national-level coordination in efforts to counter the worsening flood crisis across Pakistan.


🔹 Key Directives

  • All federal and provincial departments have been instructed to work in close coordination to minimize damage and speed up rescue efforts.

  • The PM stressed the need for:

    • Immediate evacuation of vulnerable populations.

    • Efficient relief distribution (food, water, medical aid).

    • Protection of critical infrastructure, including dams, roads, and power installations.

  • He highlighted the role of the NDMA, PDMAs, and armed forces in managing flood response.


🔹 Context

  • Torrential monsoon rains and Indian water releases into Sutlej and Ravi rivers have triggered severe flooding across Punjab and parts of Sindh.

  • Thousands of people have been displaced, with army and rescue teams already deployed in high-risk areas.

  • The PM said “a unified national response is essential to tackle this natural calamity.
