PM Shehbaz warns India over water threats, vows firm response if IWT violated

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has cautioned India against any move to block or divert Pakistan’s water in violation of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), warning of a strong national response.

Speaking at a meeting on water security, the PM said Islamabad would raise the issue at all international forums if New Delhi attempted to undermine Pakistan’s water rights. He stressed that the IWT, signed in 1960, was a binding agreement and any breach would have “serious consequences” for regional stability.
