The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet today (Sunday) to sight the moon of Rabi-ul-Awwal 1447 AH.
The main sitting will be held in Karachi under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, while zonal committees will convene in their respective provincial capitals.
Testimonies regarding moon sighting from across the country will be collected and forwarded to the central body.
The committee will then announce whether the new Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal begins tomorrow or the day after.
Rabi-ul-Awwal holds special significance for Muslims worldwide as the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), widely commemorated as Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
