Sindh govt to audit Karachi towns over road cutting expenditure

The decision comes amid reports of excessive and unchecked road cutting across Karachi, leading to poor road conditions and heavy public complaints.

The Local Government Department has directed audits to verify whether the funds allocated for road digging, utility works, and re-carpeting were spent transparently.

Each town administration will be required to submit detailed records of permissions, contractors, and payments related to road cutting.

The move is aimed at curbing corruption, misuse of funds, and unregulated utility works that often leave roads in disrepair.
