The Supreme Court of Pakistan has called for the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) to address the country’s chronic backlog of cases and speed up the delivery of justice.
During a judicial conference in Islamabad, senior judges highlighted how AI tools could help in case management, legal research, drafting, and faster decision-making, reducing the heavy burden on courts.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa stressed that technology must be leveraged to ensure timely justice for citizens, noting that millions of cases are currently pending across all levels of the judiciary.
Experts at the conference pointed to global examples where AI is already assisting courts in streamlining routine tasks, while cautioning that human oversight must remain central in all judicial decisions.
